The Sophisticated Hulas
Betty France and Cate Jardine discovered each other in the early days of MUK (Melbourne Ukulele Kollective). They are welcome company around the campfires of Victoria’s folk world.
MUF (Melbourne Ukulele Festival) regulars will know their passion for Gillian Welch, Townes Van Zandt, Anais Mitchell and this repertoire is now expanding into original material.
Whilst being described as ‘gothic folk’ they also have a wicked sense of humour, although they take the music very seriously.
Their unique style of playing - Cates awe inspiring picking and Betty driving the rhythms - creates an exciting and dynamic sound. And their harmonies are to die for.
