What is MUF?

MUF is the Melbourne Ukulele Festival.
 

Where is MUF?

The MUF 2022 Festival site is in High Street, Northcote, Melbourne – there are various venues along High Street that MUF is spread out in.

When is MUF 2023?

Friday 17 March + Saturday 18 March + Sunday 19 March 2023


MUF will start with an evening Headliner Concert at the Thornbury Theatre on Friday 17 March with a never seen before international headliner - the Dead Mans Uke all the way from England!

 

AUTLA will be hosting a professional development day on the Friday from 10am to 4pm as well.

 

There will be workshops and live performances all day Saturday and Sunday with an exciting Festival Saturday Night Concert at the Chalice Hall! Download the MUF Program and Festival Map.

How do I get to MUF?

There are many ways to get to the suburb of Northcote in Melbourne.

​

Train - Take the Mernda Line to Northcote Station from Spencer Street Station Melbourne CBD. From the station, turn right onto Separation Street.

​

Tram - Take the 86 Tram (to Bundoora RMIT) from Bourke Street in the City. The tram runs right down High Street. It takes only 35 mins to get to High Street.

​

Taxi - Local Taxi Numbers: Silver Top – 131 008 or Combined – 132 227

​

Bus - Northcote is also a bus hub and visitors can catch the number 508 bus between Moonee Ponds and Alphington which stops right near Northcote Plaza.

​

Car - There is lots of parking along High Street and the surrounding streets, but please take note of parking restrictions as many spaces are 1 or 2 hours only.

Where can I stay?

There are many options for accommodation close to the festival site at Northcote, Melbourne CBD (only a short train or tram ride away) and the surrounding suburbs.

Can I perform at MUF?

Hey you may not be on the bill but there are still plenty of opportunities to perform at MUF 2023!

 

No matter if this is your fist time on stage or not, you can participate in the Festival as a performer on the walk-up Blackboard Stage in the Chalice Courtyard and the Klub MUF Open Mic Stage at Bar 303!

Where can I buy tickets to the MUF concerts?

You can prepurchase your tickets through Humanitix HERE

​

Our MUF HUB Festival Tent will be situated in the Courtyard next to the Chalice on Saturday 18 March from 8.30am. You can purchase your Festival Wristband Passes or Concert tickets at the Festival Tent. Eftpos facilities will be available at the Tent.

​

Kids Tickets

Kids Tickets are for ages 6-14 years of age and 5 and under are free to attend!

​

Concession Tickets

The following forms of identification are valid for the purchase of concession priced tickets -

 

  • Valid Government issued Health Care Card

  • Valid Full-time Student Card

​

Companion Card

MUF honours Companion Cards. Holders of this card are entitled to a complimentary ticket for their companion. To book using a Companion Card, please contact MUF and present your Companion Card upon collection of your tickets.

​

Can I buy a single venue ticket?

There are no single entry venues (except for Chalice Church - see below). This has been done to reduce complexity and make it easier for patrons to understand. We encourage patrons to experience as many of our great acts as possible over the course of the day.

​

Supporters of Community Groups may buy all day entrance to the Community Group venue, the Chalice Church for $15 - cash only on the door or eftpos at the MUF Hub.

​

Refunds & Cancellations

Refunds are available up to 48 hours prior to the event. Please contact us as soon as possible to arrange this.

​

In the event MUF2023 is cancelled or restricted due to Government Covid regulations, refunds will be provided in accordance to Government requirements.

​

What can I eat and drink at MUF?

Northcote is awash with amazing restaurants and cafes. At our venues you can grab lots of amazing food and drinks.

​

303 - no frills bar serving drinks

Wesley Anne - full bar and food menu available

Chalice Forecourt - Yuni's Kitchen serving authentic Indonesian cuisine

​

Also at our Saturday Showcase Concert, we will have a full bar service at bar prices serving beer, wine, cocktails and soft drinks!

​

The MUF Kafe will be open on Saturday and Sunday throughout the day as well - you will be able to purchase cold drinks, basic tea and coffee and

a small selection of alcoholic drinks. Sit down and enjoy the entertainment of the Chalice Hall Stage or admire your purchase from the Marketplace!

​

I need an accessible venue? Which venues are accessible and what do they offer?

Our festival is run in a variety of heritage venues, some of which are accessible and some of which have not been upgraded. If you require specific information, please contact us.

​

Do I need a Ukulele to be a part of MUF?

If you have one bring it, but no, there is no requirement to own a ukulele! There will be ukulele retailers and manufacturers at MUF in the market space if you want to buy a ukulele or accessories or check out the range at one of our sponsors stores. Find all our MUF sponsors HERE.

​

Even if you don’t play ukulele you’ll enjoy the concerts, open mics and performances ... we encourage singing along!

​

I’ve not played for long should I come?

YES! MUF 2023 will have workshops for every level of ability from newbies to accomplished musicians.  As well as workshops there will be a walk-up open mic stage and concerts to inspire you.
